Reconciliation was the theme for this beautiful live concert production that took place at the Prince George Playhouse in the heart of the Lheidli T’enneh Ancestral Territory. The vision for this gathering came from Danny Bell of Mad Loon Entertainment. He wanted to create a concert to highlight local Indigenous musicians in the spirit of reconciliation. This performance was especially important to me because I knew that every person that purchased a ticket and sat in those seats were there because they genuinely wanted to be there. Sabina Dennis did a powerful opening prayer song and Marcel Gagnon and Saltwater Hank opened the show to a full house. For the first time in my career I was the headliner along with my band Northern Sky which consisted of Naomi Kavka on cello, guitar and vocals, Amy Blanding on mandolin and vocals, Jeremy Pahl on guitar, banjo and vocals, Corbin Spensley on upright bass and vocals, and Danny Bell on drums and vocals. Together they were called ‘Northern Sky’.

A few months prior to this concert a local philanthropist (who wishes to be unnamed) attended one of my concerts and was so moved by my music that he offered to support me. We brainstormed a few ideas and it was Naomi that came up with the idea of filming our portion of the concert with a similar style based on the Live from Massey Hall sessions. My angel investor agreed and that’s when we contacted 6ix Sigma Productions.

From this incredible evening of amazing music rich in spirit and friendship, came the live concert documentary ‘For the People’ which was brilliantly documented and produced by 6ix Sigma Productions with sound and lights by Russell AV.

This project has been sitting in the vault since 2018 so with a lot of patience, love and compassion we are ready to launch.

We are all in this together and we have the power to change the lens in which we see the world. I wish for peace and unity. May this concert be a balm for the heart, mind and soul.
